Developer turnd DBA, where to go for a good Security primer?

I have taken a position as DBA where I have been doing some development
work.
I'm looking for a list of precautions to follow or at least a white paper
that covers the basics that I can attempt to implement.
I'm looking at securing the db and data within. I am in a b2b relationship
with banks.
