did debugging with SP3 ever get fixed for Visual Studio.NET?

When I installed SP3 on SQL 2000, I lost the ability to debug stored procedures
from Visual Studio - single stepping into the stored procedure.
I spent a day trying to fix it maybe 8 months ago - and gave up.
Are there any tech notes that actually work to restore the ability to debug when
SQL Server is on the same machine as Visual Studio?
If not, can I fix the problem by un-installing SQL Server and then installing
the SP2 version? I'm unclear if the database files would have any problems with
this - or have any problems when moving SP2 databases to my SP3 production
boxes?
--
Thanks in advance, Les CaudleWe can get it to single step through the procedure, but not set a breakpoint.
Was it ever possible to breakpoint? I note the documentation states it will
not "Break", but we took that to mean one could not break the execution and
re-start.

Diap-up Connection Problem

Hi,
I want to replicate data between two SQL Servers but I have connection
problem:
Server A: Win 2003 SP1, SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition SP3
Server B: Win XP SP2, SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition SP3
Server A dials to server B. Server A can ping server B (using IP) and I
registered the SQL Server of B on A (in E.M). But server B cannot ping
Server A. I have disabled any kind of anti-virus or ISA service. All of
ports are open, no active firewall. What are the other things that I must
check?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
LeilaRun tracert to determine exactly where it is failing. It could also be a
name resolution problem. ping -a should help you with this.

HI
i have installed VisualStudio Sp6 after this installation when open my Sql
2000 server Sp3 i can't visualize Diagrams. Any operation on this windows
don't work.
I reinstalled Sql Sp3 but don't work.
Can help me?
Tia Pupo
I think I got the same problem!
I even reinstalled and reattached the full developer edition of SQL 2K.
Some diagrams show up as blank white page, often results in a crash when
trying to close diagram. Some shows boxes with table names in a very large
font and without field details or relation lines and symbols.
I did install VS SP6 a few weeks back but didn't make a connection between
the two until now.

Developing a report with Reporting Services in SQL Express

Hi,

I'm trying to use reporting services in teh VS2003 but the Option to I create the project does not appear, i've already installed SP3 and no success, any idea ?

Thanks

Which reporting service? I don't believe SQL 2000 Reporting Services is supported on MSDE. You should probably be asking this question in a Visual Studio forum rather than a SQL forum.

Mike

|||

Ok, then

Thanks... And do you Know if SQL 2005 Express has this service ?

Thanks

|||

Yes, SQL Express with Advanced Services includes Reporting Services. The tool to create reports, BIDS, is available in the SQL Express Toolkit. Both can be downloaded from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download.

Nice....

Another thing, I have an application that is currently using MSDE, I use some stored procedures and functions.... Is it all compatible with SQL Express 2005 do I need to change anything in my application ?

Thanks

|||

Hi, question regarding developing a report using SQL Express with advanced/reporting services. I have all packages installed correctly (I think) but am unable to start the BI report developer tool because the Start menu shortcut for the business intelligence development studio points to an executable that is not there. It points to: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe"

FYI, I am running Windows XP SP2 and do not have Visual Studio installed, although I do have Visual C# Express installed. There is a VCSExpress.exe in that directory, if that helps.

I can access the web based links for the reporting services manager at http://localhost/Reports$SQLExpress with no problems.

Any idea on how to use the report developer tool?

Thanks,

Todd
