difference between dbreindex and drop existing clause of create index
Could any one of you tell me if there is any difference
between dbcc dbreindex and create index with drop_existing
option for a table with one clustered index and multiple
non clustered indexes..?
Also, please let me know what is the best way to reduce
fragmentation in tables that do not have non-clustered
indexes...?bharath,
A light view of the differences can be found at:
Rebuilding an Index
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?
url=/library/en-us/createdb/cm_8_des_05_271x.asp
For rebuilding several indexes I would stick with DBCC as a general rule.
The create index ... drop_existing requires that you have all the metadata
for the indexes in your script. The DBCC requires you to know nothing more
than the table that you are concerned with. As I understand it, both should
use parallel processing if available.

diagram object behavior in EM
Noticed something odd back when we first upgraded to XP in that when one
goes to view an existing relational diagram object for a database in
Enterprise Manager, everything appears blank in the diagram. New
diagrams, OTOH, can be created and viewed without any problem. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Developing Thirty Party Controls for RS2005
I want to develop a new report control or extend the existing textbox control in RS2005. Is there any documentation or examples on how to do this?
Thanks,
Check out Teo Lachev's recent MSDN article on the CustomReportItem feature of RS 2005: http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/06/10/SQLServer2005/default.aspx

Developing new Task in SSIS
Hi All:
For making a custom Task in SSIS, is it possible to reuse the existing code base? For e.g. If i need to append some functionalities to LookUp Transform. Can I inherit the lookUp transform class?
Thanks,
Vipul
