Difference between SPs

Can somebody tell or may refer to a site that show the differences between SQL Server 2000 SP2 and SP3a.

Did it really successfully install?

SQL 7 Standard on Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP2. I just installed =
SQL Server 7 on the server and although the installer ended successfully =
I have this in the sqlstp.log:
20:44:13 C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\Common\IDE\IDE98\sqldbreg.exe -RegServer
20:44:13 Process Exit Code: (-2147312566) Error loading type =
library/DLL.
....
20:44:16 Installation Succeeded
Should I fix this and if so how? Thanks.
I looked to see if I have the file sqldbreg.exe and I do. It is in =
Microsoft Visual Studio 6\Common\...

This sounds like the installer had an issue registring the sql debuger
utility integrated with your Visual Studio instalation. This should affect
the SQL Server installation but might keep you from properly using the
debuging tools.
I would service pack your SS7 installation and then service pack your VS
installations.

Devloper Edition on Vista

Hello all,
Quick question. I know that SQL Developer Edition works on XP sp2. Anyone
know if SQL Developer Edition will work on Vista Business. I'm ordering a
new notebook and don't want to have to remove the OS if I don't have to.

JohnI'm running Dev Ed on Vista (Ultimate), no real problems. SQL Books Online lists what OS are
supported for each SQL Edition, and Vista with Business should be fine. Just install SQL 2005 sp2
after initial install, so you are supported (etc).
You are in for some work if you want to install RS. Basically, you need to make Vista "present " IIS
6. It was a while since I did this, but with some help from Google etc it wasn't that tough.
I should add that I disabled UAC. I ran it for a couple of days, but it annoyed me too much. I don't
think it caused any particular SQL Server problems, though.

released and no problem at all.
Regarding to IIS, IIS is not being fully installed by default so you need to
add some components to its installation so that you'll be able to use it for
your RS or anything else.
You may want to check out the following link to learn about exactly what
components of IIS should be installed to make RS checkbox enabled when in
SQL Server Setup.

I'm having problem installing SQL Reporting Server on Vista Business without
success. Microsoft Vista said 1% incompatiability problem. It is a real
nightmare!

Developer edition installation error on XP Professional

When trying to specify the Service settings Domain User account during SQL
Server 2000 developer edition installation on an XP Pro (SP2) machine I get
the following error message: "The logon account cannot be validated for the
SQL Server service. Verify that the username and password entered are
correct. The logon attempt failed." I have tried a variety of accounts
(including administrator) and always get the same error message. The "Local
System account" option seems to proceed without error, but that doesn't meet
my application requirements.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

XP machine is in. It can't contact the DC, so it passes the error to SQL
Server installation.
Check your connectivity to your DC's.

using the machine name in the "Domain:" field. This approach has worked fine
for me on Windows 2003 Server boxes, but I'm stuck on this XP install

You can also go to Add/Remove Programs, click on your SQL 2005 entry, click on Remove and then Report. This will display a nice summary of what components/versions you are running on your machine.

hi peter... i have a question about, how i can see if my sql server is the version 2005 sp2 and, what is the diference with server and server agent... i've checked the updates and the machine says i have up to date... but i dont know witch is.
