Thanks My Search Complete and find Answer... it is complet anser ?

When you pause an instance of Microsoft SQL Server, users who are connected to the server can finish tasks, but new connections are not allowed. For example, you can pause an instance of SQL Server for a few minutes and send a shutdown message to connected users before shutting it down. You can also resume a SQL Server service.

You can pause an instance of SQL Server before stopping the server. Pausing an instance of SQL Server prevents new users from logging in and gives you time to send a message to current users asking them to log out before you stop the server.

Difference between 2000 and 2005

Hi,

Have there articles about the difference between Analysis Service 2000 and Analysis Service 2005Oh my gosh. There is lots and lots.
One recommendation that I make to customers is to look at the migration process for a good background on this topic. It won't help you with new AS2K5 features, but it does help you transition from AS2K to AS2K5.
A good resource is here:

which is part of Project REAL

Dialog security with different instances of a service

I am in the process of evaluating the use of Service broker for messaging in a load balanced configuration, and am not having any success. My configuration is as follows.

1) Master database on Box #1 which is the initiator of all dialogs

2) Target database on Box #2

3) Target database on Box #3

One of my goals is that the databases on Box #2 and #3 are as close to identical as possible.

My routing table on Box #1 looks something like the following

Name remote_service_name broker_instance address TargetOne TargetService

E96DC67E-F696-4D93-8545-C2E92157E32D

tcp://server1:4022/ TargetTwo TargetService

56607120-26AA-4AAA-B9E4-F14689C40E41

tcp://server2:4022/

My messaging process begins with a dialog initiated from the master database (Box #1) to each of the target services. At this time, only the first server "tcp://server1:4022/" is receiving messages. The sys.transmission_queue shows a message outbound to "tcp://server2:4022/" with a blank status.

I believe that my delivery problem has something to do with the resolution of the dialog certificate need for the conversation. The MSDN documentation states that:

"Service Broker uses a remote service binding to locate the certificate to use for a new conversation...The certificate for user_name must correspond to the certificate for a user in the database that hosts the remote service."

I am confused as to how I would configure remote service binding if one can not create more than one binding for the same remote_service_name.

The following throws an exception on the last creation of the binding.

CODE SNIP

CREATE CERTIFICATE UFEDlgCertTargetPublic
AUTHORIZATION UFEDialogUser
FROM FILE='C:\certs\UFEDlgCertTarget.cer';

CREATE CERTIFICATE UFEDlgCertTarget2Public
AUTHORIZATION UFEDialogUser2
FROM FILE='C:\certs\UFEDlgCertTarget_2.cer';

CREATE REMOTE SERVICE BINDING [targetRSB]
TO SERVICE 'TargetService'
WITH USER = UFEDialogUser, ANONYMOUS=OFF ;
GO

CREATE REMOTE SERVICE BINDING [targetRSB2]
TO SERVICE 'TargetService'
WITH USER = UFEDialogUser2, ANONYMOUS=OFF ;
GO
/CODE SNIP

Msg 9619, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Failed to create remote service binding 'targetRSB2'. A remote service binding for service 'TargetService' already exists.

I am obviously missing a clear understanding of dialog security, and would greatly appreciate an explanation of how certificates get resolved when more than one route exists for different instances of a service.

Any help would be appreciated
-Joel Neubeck

As you said in your BOL quote. You have to use the same certificate for both targets. That means you only have one remote service binding which specifies one user which own one certificate. The two target databases must have the same certificate. If you want to make the targets identical, the easiest way to get the same certificate on both boxes is to copy the database to the second box so everything - including the certificates - is truely identical.|||Thank you for your help.

Thanks for weighing in. I found this thread from a Google search and it was way down on the list in this forum. But I can't see that anyone has ever fixed this! This will keep this at the top of the list and hopefully get Microsoft's attention. They really need to fix this.

Workaround tip: This may be a *duh* or this may not be obvious to you; I didn't realize this solution at first. If you're connected to the Internet via a Router/Switch, it is possible that the router device can provide DHCP services for you. My LinkSys CableModem router provides DHCP, so I'm OK personally, but Microsoft really should fix this.

Thanks for weighing in. I found this thread from a Google search and it was way down on the list in this forum. But I can't see that anyone has ever fixed this! As soon as I posted my own problem, the topic popped up to the top of the list. That's the nice thing about this forum. So everyone who is having this problem needs to report in.

Thanks,|||Anybody ever get a resolution to this, I've seen it mentioned in all sorts of forums, one of which indicated there was a registry fix posted on the MSDN site but I can't find a fix anywhere. Microsoft whats the deal? How do we fix these problems?|||Hi Mark,

Thanks to the Microsoft guys. I'm sure you're hard at work to find a fix for us.

(As a side note, why on Earth is DHCP Server using a Jet database? For goodness sakes, it's 2005!)|||http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback/viewfeedback.aspx?feedbackid=6c2ce44d-72d2-416d-afee-c51c9298c746
This issue is because setup creates wrong default registry value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\VssAccessControl. To fix DHCP service just delete VssAccessControl registry key.|||It worked! Thanks a lot.
Mike|||

I have also same problem (errors) but i didn't install sql server 2005. There is no "VssAccessControl" registery key under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\"

I can't understand why this happened and I could not found a solution...

I dont know what should i do...

|||Experiencing the exact same problem. There is no "VssAccessControl" registery key. DHCP is starting but each moring it shuts down.|||Worked for me.. thanks|||I am still having this issue as well. I am getting event ids 1010, 1016, and 1014. I don't have SQL installed on this computer at all. Please help.|||I am getting this same issue, but about the same time I started receiving errors from Executive Software Diskeeper Enterprise edition, telling me that I could no longer defrag my root drive, as I had Volume shadow copy enabled. This software had always worked fine before on this system and the only changed I can tie this too are the critical updates released last week.|||

Same problem. No VssAccessControl but the service will not start. error msg: "Error 65535: 0xffff"

Any suggestions from Microsoft ?

Thanks in advance !

Developer terminates MSSQLSERVER service

Hi.
One of the developers tried to compile a stored procedure
against the master database by mistake. The result was
that the .
In the event log the following entry appears:
The system has called a custom component and that
component has failed and generated an exception.
This indicates a problem with the custom component.
Notify the developer of this component that a failure has
occurred and provide them with the information below.
Component Prog ID: SC. Pool 61 1
Method Name: IDispenseDriver::CreateResource
Process Name: sqlserver.exe
The serious nature of this error has caused the process
to terminate.
Exception: C0000005
Address: 0x17CEA9E1
Call Stack: 0x17CEA9E2
The MSSQLSERVER service terminated unexpectedly.
Just prior to that an entry appears with the developers
user id:
Error: 0, Severity:19 State:0
SqlDumpExceptionHandler: Process 167 generated fatal
exception = C0000005
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION SQL Server is terminating this
process.
How can I prevent this from ever happening again?
How can I lock down my server properly enough to prevent
this from ever happening again?
Thanks,
MTAV's are generally bugs in SQL Server, and you cannot make sure that SQL Server is bug free. When
you hit an AV, search KB, make sure the db is OK (CHECKDB) and if needed open a case with MS.

Good news, I ran the CHECKDB and found 0 allocation
errors and 0 consistency errors in database 'master'.
What does AV stand for? Under what criteria would I
search the KB to determine how to prevent this situation

to try to find a relevant KB article by going in a good search string, error number etc. However,
there might not be a KB article for your problem (the bug in SQL Server might not be knows, yet),
hence the need to possibly open a case with MS support. If you find a KB article, it hopefully has
some workaround, point to some service pack that fixes this or possibly a hotfix that fixes this.

Developer edition installation error on XP Professional

When trying to specify the Service settings Domain User account during SQL
Server 2000 developer edition installation on an XP Pro (SP2) machine I get
the following error message: "The logon account cannot be validated for the
SQL Server service. Verify that the username and password entered are
correct. The logon attempt failed." I have tried a variety of accounts
(including administrator) and always get the same error message. The "Local
System account" option seems to proceed without error, but that doesn't meet
my application requirements.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Develop in VS2005 and deployment to SQL 2000

I find I can use VS2005 to develop reports of Reporting Service and the
datasource of reports is from SQL2000.
Can I develop these report to SQL2000 after I developed?If you get Reporting Services, you will get Report Designer as a template in
VS.NET. Check how to obtain RS at
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/report...y/default.mspx.

I have read your question a couple of times and am unsure if you are

If you want to use server-based Reporting Services then I believe
Mike's answer is correct, since the RDL format has changed between
RS2000 and RS2005.
If you want to use the new report controls, which don't depend on

I have read your question a couple of times and am unsure if you are
referring to the server-based Reporting Services or the new report
controls which are included in Visual Studio 2005.
If you want to use server-based Reporting Services then I believe
Mike's answer is correct, since the RDL format has changed between
RS2000 and RS2005.
If you want to use the new report controls, which don't depend on
server-based Reporting Services, I think you are likely to be ok. I
should mention that it's a scenario I haven't tested personally.
