Difference between Database Diagrams and Foreign keys creation

Hello!

Which is the difference between Database Diagrams creation and the Foreign keys creation in "New Foreign key" option, in keys folder (inside of any table) pop-up menu?

Both create relations only (in ways different, let us say)?

Thanks! Bye!what do you mean, "in different ways"?|||

hi dennis,

When you create a foreign key in the database diagram. It is also reflected in the database

there's no difference between the two except that you can easily create multiple FK's in the diagram all at the same time

and in the later however you can create more complex FKs such as those which involve two or three keys

"what do you mean, "in different ways"? "

"Different ways", normally, in my country (Brazil), it means different modes that realize the same job. You understood?

You should be discussing this in the beta groups for SQL Server 2005. But
since SQL 2005 B2 isn't covered under beta I can say that they diagrams are
not in the version of the beta you are working with. New features, such as
this one, may or may not be added to the final release.

Diagrams Problem

HI
i have installed VisualStudio Sp6 after this installation when open my Sql
2000 server Sp3 i can't visualize Diagrams. Any operation on this windows
don't work.
I reinstalled Sql Sp3 but don't work.
Can help me?
Tia Pupo
I think I got the same problem!
I even reinstalled and reattached the full developer edition of SQL 2K.
Some diagrams show up as blank white page, often results in a crash when
trying to close diagram. Some shows boxes with table names in a very large
font and without field details or relation lines and symbols.
I did install VS SP6 a few weeks back but didn't make a connection between
the two until now.

Diagrams not visible in EM in Terminal Server

Hi,
I cannot see the content of diagrams when opening the Enterprise Manager in
a RemoteDesktop session on a Terminal Server. The page is simply empty. I can
however create new diagrams which remain visible after closing an re-opening.
They are again not visible if modified in the Enterprise Manager on another
machine not logged on to the Terminal Server.
Any ideas are appreciated.
TIA,
Norbert Meiss
I just tried the same thing, and the diagrams opened fine for me.

I found an answer. I had the same problem and uninstalled and re-installed SQL serveral times.
Apparently my issue was related to Visual Studio SP6. I didn't make the connection, but I saw others discussing this on another site.
The issue is with a file called mdt2df.dll. Replace this file with another version. The one that is in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSDesigners98 was the one that my system was using. I found an older version in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office2K\ODETools\V9\Runtime\FULL\PFILES\COMMON\MS SHARED\MSDESIGN. The older version worked.
Good luck!

Diagrams manipulation

Hello, working on SQL2000.
I want to know if the diagrams can be exported to a format that can be
later imported to another database.
I also want to know if importing a diagram to a database, changes the
indexes, FK, etc or has nothing to do with it.
Thanks in advanceYou can certainly move the diagrams to another server

diagrams in sql server 2005

is there a tool to make diagrams in sql server 2005?
*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.codecomments.com ***
Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!
You should discuss SQL2005 in the appropriate newsgroups for the beta...
That feature is currently not in B2.
(P.S. features in B2 are not considered NDA at this time)

Diagrams disappearing in SQL 2000

We appear to have a problem with our diagrams in SQL 2000 Enterprise
manager - The diagrams either disappear so that when you click them there is
nothing to view or alternatively the tables show with no fields. This
problem doesn't affect all diagrams, but a large proportion of them.
Any ideas ?
Hi
Have you installed SP3a on the server AND the client machines that have
Enterprise Manager Installed.
I have seen this when the 2 are out of sync.
Regards
