This sounds like the installer had an issue registring the sql debuger
utility integrated with your Visual Studio instalation. This should affect
the SQL Server installation but might keep you from properly using the
debuging tools.
I would service pack your SS7 installation and then service pack your VS
installations.

did debugging with SP3 ever get fixed for Visual Studio.NET?
from Visual Studio - single stepping into the stored procedure.
I spent a day trying to fix it maybe 8 months ago - and gave up.
Are there any tech notes that actually work to restore the ability to debug when
SQL Server is on the same machine as Visual Studio?
If not, can I fix the problem by un-installing SQL Server and then installing
the SP2 version? I'm unclear if the database files would have any problems with
this - or have any problems when moving SP2 databases to my SP3 production
boxes?
--
Thanks in advance, Les CaudleWe can get it to single step through the procedure, but not set a breakpoint.
Was it ever possible to breakpoint? I note the documentation states it will
not "Break", but we took that to mean one could not break the execution and
re-start.
Cheers

Dictionarry order question
set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS on a W2k server box. There are several
applications running in production using that machine and those settings.
Now the company is getting a new program that has as the requirement for its
sql server dictionary order to be set to Custom, Case insensitive, Accent
insensitive, for use with 1252 character set.
This server has lots of capacity left and there is no way to justify
spending dollars on another processor license for this app when the server
we already have should be able to do the job.
Is it possible to change the dictionary order on the current server and its
databases and test my current apps? If they still work as before I can then
leave it like that, if not I would have to be able to come back to current
settings.
What is the expert opinion on the difference in settings between the new app
and the current settings as shown above, do you think we should try keeping
our current settings for the new app? The app coming in is using asp pages
and the users are all French, the data in the files will be French with
accented characters and also some English in some fields.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
RD
If it was me, I'd set up a new instance of SQL Server (configured with the
collation sequence of your choice) and let 'er rip. But with SQL Server
2000, it's possible to have different collation sequences on the instance,
database, table, or even column (IIRC). So there's no reason to change your
existing apps and databases. As far as I know, changing collations is a
real pain in the butt, and involves DTS'ing or BCP'ing your data to a new
home, or out to a temporary one, and in to the re-built one.

i have installed VisualStudio Sp6 after this installation when open my Sql
2000 server Sp3 i can't visualize Diagrams. Any operation on this windows
don't work.
I reinstalled Sql Sp3 but don't work.

I think I got the same problem!
I even reinstalled and reattached the full developer edition of SQL 2K.
Some diagrams show up as blank white page, often results in a crash when
trying to close diagram. Some shows boxes with table names in a very large
font and without field details or relation lines and symbols.
I did install VS SP6 a few weeks back but didn't make a connection between
the two until now.

Diagrams Problem
i have installed VisualStudio Sp6 after this installation when open my Sql
2000 server Sp3 i can't visualize Diagrams. Any operation on this windows
don't work.
I reinstalled Sql Sp3 but don't work.
Can help me?
Tia PupoI think I got the same problem!

Lou BelaroBeta 2 is very old and does not contain the database diagram tool. It is, however, in the most recent version of SQL Server 2005 (June CTP), which you can get from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/downloads/ctp.mspx.
To use .NET code inside stored procedures, functions, triggers, etc. you need to create an assembly in SQL Server. Please see the following topics in SQL Server Books Online for additional information.

Thanks for weighing in. I found this thread from a Google search and it was way down on the list in this forum. But I can't see that anyone has ever fixed this! Workaround tip: This may be a *duh* or this may not be obvious to you; I didn't realize this solution at first. |||I think someone from Microsoft should address this issue.
Thanks,|||Anybody ever get a resolution to this, I've seen it mentioned in all sorts of forums, one of which indicated there was a registry fix posted on the MSDN site but I can't find a fix anywhere. Microsoft whats the deal? How do we fix these problems?|||Hi Mark,
Thanks for weighing in. I found this thread from a Google search and it was way down on the list in this forum. But I can't see that anyone has ever fixed this! As soon as I posted my own problem, the topic popped up to the top of the list. That's the nice thing about this forum. So everyone who is having this problem needs to report in. This will keep this at the top of the list and hopefully get Microsoft's attention. They really need to fix this.
Workaround tip: This may be a *duh* or this may not be obvious to you; I didn't realize this solution at first. If you're connected to the Internet via a Router/Switch, it is possible that the router device can provide DHCP services for you. My LinkSys CableModem router provides DHCP, so I'm OK personally, but Microsoft really should fix this.
Thanks to the Microsoft guys. I'm sure you're hard at work to find a fix for us.
